If you’re feeling active, why not take on one of our many challenge events. From marathons and bike rides to skydiving and treks, we have something for everyone.

Alternatively, organising your own event is great fun and a fantastically rewarding way to get involved and support our appeals. So why not join #TeamBrainAppeal fundraisers across the UK who are always coming up with clever and unique ideas to raise money for us. From wine tastings and golf days, cake sales, quiz nights to sponsored walks and Pyjama Parties, our incredible supporters never cease to amaze us.

Virtual fundraising ideas

How can you support us while social distancing?

There are many fun ways you can support us while complying with the government’s Covid-19 guidelines by staying at home. See below for some ideas!

Fundraise while Gaming

Did you know that you can fundraise while gaming online? It couldn’t be easier, all you need to do is follow these simple steps:

  1. Set up an account on streaming platform Twitch or log in if you already have an account.
  2. Set up an account on JustGiving
  3. Download the free software OBS.
  4. Follow this step by step guide to get up and running and to connect your Twitch & JustGiving accounts
  5. Decide when you are going to broadcast your gaming and what game you are going to broadcast
  6. Get active on social media: share links to your fundraising page anywhere you can using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, WhatsApp or even email.
  7. Broadcast your gaming! Make sure you communicate with your audience about why you are raising money in aid of The National Brain Appeal and encourage them to donate.

Make sure to take regular breaks – long gameplay is not very easy on your body! Set an alarm to make you stand up from your game rig every couple of hours at least.

Virtual Quiz

This is a really fun way of getting together with your friends and family online. All you need to do is:

1) Download Zoom or Houseparty

2) Create a JustGiving fundraising page

3) Ask your participants to donate to enter the quiz

4) Get started!

Struggling to think of quiz questions? Have a look here for some inspiration.

If this all sounds too much, you can still gather together your friends and family and take part in our BrainBox Quiz on YouTube

Virtual Pub night

Got that Friday Feeling? Have a virtual pub night! Catch up with family and friends over a pint or glass of wine at home using Zoom or Houseparty and donate the cost of your normal round to The National Brain Appeal

Donate your lunch / coffee money

If during the working day you normally grab a takeaway coffee on the way to work or go out for lunch, why not save the money you would have spent and donate it to The National Brain Appeal? You can make a donation on our website or by setting up a JustGiving page

Livestream performances / music / comedy

If you’re a musician, poet or comedian, try hosting an online performance in exchange for donations! All you need to do is:

1) Use Youtube, Facebook Live, Instagram Live or Twitch to stream

2) Create your JustGiving page

3) Share your page with your audience

4) Ask for donations instead of a ticket charge

Showcase your skills

If you have a special skill, whether it be playing the guitar, speaking a second language, baking delicious cakes or doing press ups, have a think about broadcasting your skill online to teach other people. Follow these simple steps:

1) Use Youtube, Facebook Live, Instagram Live or Twitch to stream

2) Create your JustGiving page

3) Ask for donations for lessons or resources
