Top Tips from Tallulah

Hi, I’m Tallulah, Fundraising Co-ordinator at The National Brain Appeal and I last wrote a blog about our challenge events. It’s hard to believe that over a year has gone by – but it’s that time again. We’ve got some brilliant events coming up and if there are no places left, we always need volunteer cheerleaders…

To get you started, here are my Top Tips to help you with your training and fundraising:

1. Give yourself enough time: start early with your training so you’re not stressed about fitting it all in

2. Pace yourself: set yourself achievable goals, one more mile this week, two more next week

3. Track your progress on social media: it’s amazing how much more motivated you’ll feel if people are liking, commenting on and retweeting your training progress

4. Partner up: train with a friend or family member who can keep you going when the going gets tough

5. Set up your JustGiving (or Virgin Money) page early. Seeing the sponsorship coming in will help motivate you through your training

6. Spread the word: write an article in your newsletter, put up posters on your work noticeboard, tell local press to raise awareness about your event and update your email signature with your JustGiving link

7. Times two: ask your employer if they are happy to enter a matched giving scheme which can double your fundraising!

8. The personal approach: tell people why The National Brain Appeal means so much to you, by explaining the personal connection you’re much more likely to get people supporting your cause

9. Get a gang together: ask friends and family to come down on event day and join us as cheerleaders; it’ll give you a huge lift seeing them shouting you on!

10. Say thank you: share photos of the day with your supporters, update them with your total amount raised and what the money will achieve

11. Get in touch with us: we’re here to help you every step of the way and we have loads of t-shirts, leaflets, collecting tins and resources that will help you hit your target
