As a volunteer you will be giving something back to a cause you care passionately about, as well as gaining valuable skills to boost your CV, confidence and sense of achievement.
Who can volunteer?
- Anyone over the age of 18
- If you would like to volunteer in our office, you must commit to a minimum of three hours per week and be able to travel to central London (unfortunately, we don’t have any regional offices).
- Many companies encourage their staff to volunteer in their own time or provide opportunities for them to volunteer in work time (by allowing volunteering leave). This is usually called ’employer supported volunteering’ or ‘ESV’ for short.
“I regularly volunteer for The National Brain Appeal and I get a lot of satisfaction from it. I enjoy meeting and chatting to patients while I work on the information stall, and I help out with admin work in the office too. I’ve even been nominated for a trust-wide ‘Star Volunteer’ award which was a nice surprise!”
Volunteers are offered a £5 per day subsistence allowance and we cover travel expenses within London for each full day. If you’re interested in becoming a volunteer, please call the office on 020 3448 4724 or email us and we’ll send you our volunteer pack to get you started.
We ask all potential volunteers to come in for a chat first – to meet the team, discuss the role in more detail and agree a start date and hours per week. We can’t always place people straight away but we do our very best to find everyone a role that suits them and the charity.
We look forward to hearing from you.
